What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is an accredited course from Mental Health First Aid Australia. It teaches everyday people how to notice when someone is struggling, start the conversation and guide them towards professional help. Think first aid, but for mental health: not therapy, just the skills to help until the right support takes over.

Questions people ask
Is Mental Health First Aid a legal requirement in NSW?
No law requires MHFA specifically. NSW WHS law does require employers to identify and manage psychosocial risks, such as high job demands, low support and exposure to traumatic events. Trained Mental Health First Aiders are one practical control that helps people spot problems early and get support.
How much does Mental Health First Aid training cost?
Workplace training is $4,950 + GST for up to 15 people, with extra participants at $295 each up to 20. Sporting clubs, community groups and not-for-profits pay $3,300 + GST for up to 15. Travel is included anywhere in Greater Sydney. Outside Sydney, travel and accommodation are charged at cost.
Is the training accredited?
Yes. I'm a licensed Mental Health First Aid Australia instructor delivering the Standard MHFA course. Participants who complete the course and the assessment become Accredited Mental Health First Aiders for three years.
How many people should we train?
Enough that anyone can easily reach a trained person, across shifts, sites and teams. For most small and medium businesses and clubs, a group of 10 to 15 is a strong start.
What's the format and timing?
We work that out together on the planning call, around your rosters, shifts or training nights. It's always delivered in person, at your place.
Do you travel outside Sydney?
Yes. I've run this training in the Hunter, the Southern Highlands, Broken Hill and on remote mine sites in South Australia. The course fee is the same, and flights, fuel and accommodation are charged at cost and quoted upfront.
